How to dye your own hair using Kool-aid

Judi says:
Lots of people are finding Ask the Crafter through Google searches asking how to dye your hair with Kool-Aid. The referring post is about how to dye mohair for dolls ... so I thought I'd also tell you how to dye your own hair with Kool-aid.

It's relatively easy ... take two or three packets of unsweetened Kool-Aid (make sure it is unsweetened) and add a couple of dollops of conditioner, enough to make a paste. Wet your hair. Cover your hair with this paste, wrap your head in saran wrap, and wait 8 to 12 hours. Rinse and dry. That's it.

Here's a cute photo tutorial of a youngster having a kool-aid dye job. Dark hair will only take the color as a tint, you'd have to bleach your hair for a really good job. But if you're going to go that far I'd use Manic Panic, Special Effects (a vegan dye) or similar 'punk' dyes instead of kool-aid. By the way, you can also use these dyes for mohair.

Have fun and don't blame me for the results!
